Bars 5–10 are homophonic, with all voices coinciding rhythmically.Bars 11–20 are polyphonic. The first four bars are monophonic, with both hands performing the same melody an octave apart. An example is the Scherzo from Schubert’s piano sonata in B major, D575. Many classical pieces feature different kinds of texture within a short space of time. Silence - No sound at all or the absence of intended sound.Heterophonic - Two or more voices simultaneously performing variations of the same melody.May be considered a condition of homophony or distinguished from it. Homorhythmic - Multiple voices with similar rhythmic material in all parts.HS and RS are often combined, thus labeled HRS. Homophonic textures usually contain only one PM. Characteristic texture of the Classical period and continued to predominate in Romantic music while in the 20th century, "popular music is nearly all homophonic," and, "much of jazz is also" though, "the simultaneous improvisations of some jazz musicians creates a true polyphony". If all the parts have much the same rhythm, the homophonic texture can also be described as homorhythmic. Multiple voices of which one, the melody, stands out prominently and the others form a background of harmonic accompaniment. Homophonic - The most common texture in Western music: melody and accompaniment.Polyphonic textures may contain several PMs. Characteristic texture of the Renaissance music, also prevalent during the Baroque period. Polyphonic or Counterpoint or Contrapuntal - Multiple melodic voices which are to a considerable extent independent from or in imitation with one another. All pedal tone notes are consonant except for the last three of the first measure. 6 in D minor, BWV 851, from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I, mm. It is generally considered to be a type of polyphony. Pedal tones or ostinati would be an example of a SS. Biphonic - Two distinct lines, the lower sustaining a drone (constant pitch) while the other line creates a more elaborate melody above it.Monophonic - Monophonic texture includes a single melodic line with no accompaniment.PSMs often double or parallel the PM they support. In musical terms, particularly in the fields of music history and music analysis, some common terms for different types of texture are: The types categorized by number and relationship of parts are analyzed and determined through the labeling of primary textural elements: primary melody (PM), secondary melody (SM), parallel supporting melody (PSM), static support (SS), harmonic support (HS), rhythmic support (RS), and harmonic and rhythmic support (HRS). A piece's texture may be changed by the number and character of parts playing at once, the timbre of the instruments or voices playing these parts and the harmony, tempo, and rhythms used. The thickness varies from light to thick. The thickness also is changed by the amount and the richness of the instruments playing the piece. One of these layers could be a string section or another brass. For example, a thick texture contains many 'layers' of instruments. The texture is often described in regard to the density, or thickness, and range, or width, between lowest and highest pitches, in relative terms as well as more specifically distinguished according to the number of voices, or parts, and the relationship between these voices. In music, texture is how the tempo, melodic, and harmonic materials are combined in a musical composition, determining the overall quality of the sound in a piece. ![]()

Lady Margaret was born at Bletsoe Castle, Bedfordshire, either on or, more likely, on. She was the daughter and sole heiress of John Beaufort, Duke of Somerset (1404–1444), a legitimised grandson of John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster (third surviving son of King Edward III), by his mistress Katherine Swynford, whom he married. Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, a nineteenth-century foundation named after her was the first Oxford college to admit women. She is credited with the establishment of two prominent Cambridge colleges, founding Christ's College in 1505 and beginning the development of St John's College, which was completed posthumously by her executors in 1511. She was also a major patron and cultural benefactor during her son's reign, initiating an era of extensive Tudor patronage. With her son crowned Henry VII, Lady Margaret wielded a considerable degree of political influence and personal autonomy – both unusual for a woman of her time. She was thus instrumental in orchestrating the rise to power of the Tudor dynasty. Beaufort's efforts ultimately culminated in Henry's decisive victory over King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field. Capitalising on the political upheaval of the period, she actively manoeuvred to secure the crown for her son. Journal digest: Delve into the colours of rainbow lattice sunstone. "Revisiting Rainbow Lattice Sunstone from the Harts Range, Australia". The source rock of this material is a biotite gneiss. Very few of these potassium feldspar crystals are suitable as a gemstone because they are typically quite brittle and tend to break along cleavage during cutting. Fine hematite inclusions are apparently responsible for the pink color. Its base colors include blue-gray, tan, and pink. This material contains brown and black exsolution platelets of hematite and ilmenite that show thin-film interference colors along the interface with the host feldspar. Specimens of potassium feldspar that display a phenomenon remarkably similar to Rainbow lattice sunstone have been found in the area of Statesville, North Carolina. After Mason's death, Arthur went to co-found Asterism Gems, a company which was set up to market and sell the gemstones. It was identified at the GIA and declared a new gem variety in 1989. The original source is located at what is now known as the Rainbow Caterpillar Mine, in the Harts Range northeast of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. Rainbow lattice sunstone was first discovered in late 1985 by Darren Arthur and Sonny Mason, on a small claim owned by Mason. The magnetite that has no alteration is black with a metallic sheen. Magnetite ( Fe 3O 4) forms black, equilateral triangles. These blades are oriented in different directions by a process known as lamellar twinning and also displays sagenitic twinning, which forms the lattice pattern. Hematite also forms as very thin blades that occur on one plane in different directions. This effect is called aventurescence or sunstone effect which gives some of the gems an orange glow. Hematite (Fe 2O 3) which are small mainly yellow to deep orange platelets which can be hexagonal shape and are generally in one plane within the feldspar. This research also discovered that the lattice patterns consist of orangey brown platelets of hematite and the black platelets consist of magnetite. It was found that the host mineral is orthoclase (Or 96Ab 4), as previously reported in the literature and the inclusions causing the aventurescence are hematite. From 2017 to 2018, six samples of rainbow lattice sunstone were studied using electron microprobe analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, and laser Raman spectroscopy. ![]() Initially, the study of this gemstone in 1989 concluded that the inclusions were made up of ilmenite (for the iridescence lattice and black triangles) and hematite (for the orange platelets). Rainbow lattice sunstone with hematite and magnetite equilateral triangle inclusions Lower-quality Rainbow lattice sunstone is produced at another claim about 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) away from the primary source. The primary source of this sunstone is covered by a single mining claim about 500 by 600 meters (1,600 by 2,000 ft) in size. It is an area consisting of dry plains with rocky outcrops that lies in the Harts Range north-east of Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. Rainbow lattice sunstone is produced from a remote part of the Australian desert known as the Mud Tank Zircon Field. Sunstone refers to its physical appearance instead of its chemical composition. The iridescence lattice pattern consists of inclusions that are the result of crystallographically oriented exsolution crystals within the feldspar crystal. Rainbow lattice sunstone, also known as rainbow lattice, is a type of orthoclase feldspar that exhibits a rare combination of aventurescence, adularescence, and a distinctive iridescence lattice pattern. ![]() ![]() It is about 4 am before things begin to quieten down and I get some sleep, but I am soon woken by the sun.
